The Lost City (2021)
★★★
Director: Aaron Nee & Adam Nee
The Lost City is a comedy action film and fun-loving adventure featuring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum as starring roles in this buddy comedy film. Bullock plays Loretta Sage, a romance novelist struggling with her book series and passion for writing, which leads to her becoming abducted by a spoilt billionaire, played by Daniel Radcliff. This results in a treasure hunt and race against time to solve a mystery, run from an enemy and understand the importance of friendship.
The hero of Lorette’s book series Alan played by Channing Tatum, decides to find Loretta, and bring her home. What plays out in a series of events where Tatum, with the help of Brad Pitt, travels to the other side of the world to bring back Bullock and save the day, while also going on a treasure hunt to find a priceless artifact.
Yes, a lot goes on in this film, but it provides an entertaining and laugh out loud moments making the film enjoyable to watch. The acting felt natural and fun, not a surprise since most the cast are well known acting veterans.
The plot at times felt a bit messy, mainly caused by the over-inflicting plot lines and script, but it still paves an amusing popcorn film. The humour is simple and the graphic effects, scenery, and soundtrack all muse together to create a harmless comedy film.
Overall, the film is a fun experience to have at the cinema or at home. Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum play likable characters and the film has a fun plot that would keep most entertained.
